3 Things You Absolutely Do Not Need to Pack for Your Week-Long Trip

Excited about your week-long getaway? Can’t wait to unwind and relax in a new city? Make sure you don’t overpack by carrying things you don’t need.

Here’s what you should avoid packing for a week-long trip.

Bulky Towel

We know; carrying your fluffiest towel on your trip seems like the perfect add-on for maximum comfort. However, this really isn’t the wisest move to make when you’re packing for a week-long trip. Sure, it’s convenient having your personal towel with you, but packing it doesn’t make much sense for a short-term trip.

This is because towels are bulky. Carrying one in your bag will just take up a lot of space that could be utilized for other, more pressing items.  Not to mention that towels take forever to dry and you really don’t want to be stuck with a damp towel that would stink up your bag.

If you absolutely must keep a towel, opt for a microfiber travel towel.

More Than One Pair of Jeans

This actually applies to other clothing items too. When you’re just traveling for a week, you don’t need two heavy jackets, or two different bathing suits, or two pairs of jeans. The goal is to carry as little as possible and travel light.

When it comes to packing jeans, one pair is quite enough for a week-long excursion. It’ll last you the entire week without you having to wash it (unless, you know, you spend your week knee-deep in a swamp). You can alternate between your jeans and your pair of shorts, tracking bottoms, or cargo pants during the week. At most, keep an extra pair of shorts or a skirt, but don’t make the mistake of carrying two pairs of jeans. Like towels, jeans also occupy more space and take too long to dry. One pair is just the right amount to carry along.

Jewelry & Other Valuables

Unless you’re traveling to attend a wedding or a formal event, you want to keep your jewelry and other valuables as far away from your travel bag as possible. These items are really unnecessary for your usual trips, and will only cause anxiety and paranoia.

Think about it; do you really want to spend your trip worrying about your valuables and praying that they’re safe? If you want to avoid the risk of losing your prized Rolex or that ruby necklace your grandmother gave you, it’s best to leave these items at home. You can carry along cheaper accessories to wear during your trip instead.

No matter what you carry along with you, it always helps knowing that you have the option to store your bag safely in a luggage storage facility. Cubby helps travelers resolve their baggage concerns by providing them with reliable bag storage options across the US. This includes locations in Las Vegas, Austin, Atlanta, and Boston, to name a few.
