How to Become a Travel Influencer

Influencers are a major part of social media these days—millions of people are out there fashioning themselves as either makeup or beauty influencers. One of the more challenging—but definitely more fun— influencer jobs is becoming a travel influencer.

For someone who already loves to travel, this is a win-win.

Step 1: Travel

The first step when becoming a travel influencer, is, of course, to travel. And we don’t mean that you should go around just your city. Of course, if you live in a city like Washington DC, you have a ton of places to document and represent on your blog—but that doesn’t cut it. A true travel influencer is always pushing the boundaries—because you’re always trying to explore as many places as possible.

We’d say explore the world. If you are, for example, in Texas, go out and explore as many Texas cities as possible: Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and so on.

Invest in a Good Camera

A major part of being a travel influencer is about getting involved in social media. It’s through social media channels that you will reach out to people. And they won’t follow your blog if it’s just you telling people how you found the different cities you visited.

What you need are flattering photos of the places you come across—if you have experience with photography, all the better. If you don’t, you’ll get there. You don’t need to be a whiz with the camera—all you need are good angles, good lighting, good monuments, and a good camera.

A true traveler’s eye will naturally find the right shot at the right moment—because we’re attuned to it.

Budget Accordingly

Travel is a lot more expensive than makeup and fashion. You’re traveling to different cities and have all sorts of different needs to tend to: flight, hotel rooms, luggage storage, so on and so forth. For such a gig, you need money—so you need to save money. It begins with, of course, budgeting right. Then, you have to plan your trip down to a T—this ensures you’re setting aside enough for your trip, and won’t be going over budget.

Storing Your Luggage

Since we’ve already talked about budgeting, it’s important to find the most affordable options around. If you’re looking for affordable luggage storage options in Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Galveston, Fort Worth, Boston, Houston, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, and San Antonio, check out Cubby’s services.
