2021 Travel: What’s Travel Going to Look Like in 2021?

It’s natural to be skeptical about travel in 2021, because 2020 was a year like no other—well, unless we’re talking the 14th century, when so many people died from the plague. And despite the fact that we have medicine and scientists and vaccines and knowledge of cousin strains such as SARS now, the virus caught us all unaware.

Travel came to a pause for almost the entirety of 2020—airports were vacant, public places deserted, and international air routes left unattended.

Is 2021 going to be the same?

A Lot More Travel for Sure

There’s good news in store, especially for travel enthusiasts: a vaccine is doing the rounds. It’s already been administered to some people in the UK, and is all set to be administered to members of the White House staff. Could this vaccine be a catalyst for tourism in 2021? We definitely think so.

Some have called 2021 the “year of travel”—and we’re compelled to agree. Thanks to optimism fueled by the vaccine, travel bookings have already seen a significant surge.

It Won’t Change Too Drastically

While, yes, we can assume that people will be traveling a lot more in 2021, it won’t be too different from what we know of it. 2020 is going to leave us all pretty scarred, for which reason people will still continue to be cautious. There won’t, for example, be too many people traveling—but there will definitely be an uptick. People are growing restless sitting at home—and naturally so.

However, while people will travel, they will still be cautious. Would they prefer traveling during off seasons? Presumably so. We can also assume that many people will follow precautions, and will not take vacations that are needlessly long. People might plan their trips better and not linger in a city for too long either. Additionally, we also think that people won’t be flying by air as much as they will prefer the road. Caution will continue.

Revenge Travel Clan Unite

Many are calling 2021 the year of—not just travel—but of revenge travel. Forget about vengeance is mine, sayeth the lord, and all that. 2021 is when people are planning to snatch back the days of precious travel and the opportunities for tourism that were taken from them.

So, yes, people will be traveling more aggressively—but also more cautiously. They might not take too many international trips—because we still don’t know how safe it’s out there. Moreover, many countries are still not allowing international travel—so there’s that. But we do think that interstate and local travel will see a massive upsurge—and that’s a good thing, if done correctly.
