Lifting the Lockdown: How the Mass. Community Plans to Address Business Reopening

Did the COVID-19 crisis put your plans to travel to Boston on hold? If so, you may just get to visit the city yet!
Gov. Baker has announced a 4-step plan to reopen Mass. starting from May 18th, which may seem like a little quick, considering the information we’ve received on COVID-19 cases. Behind New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, Massachusetts leads as the state with the 4th highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country. So, it’s natural that many people may be concerned about safety and security.

Nevertheless, with this 4-step plan, the idea is not to allow all businesses to reopen, but limited industries that have little to no direct interaction with the public can still operate. Essential businesses have already been operating in the city, as in the rest of the world.

But by allowing industries to resume functions, the first phase, “start,” may just help revitalize the economy and allow the government to carve a path for other industries to follow suit.

Traveling to Massachusetts

It’s a valid fear that by reopening the state, this may just lead to a second wave of infections that our medical community is not prepared for. This is why the four-step plan includes limitations on how the community will travel while operations re-start.

Massachusetts has received positive news as a result of the mandated lockdown and laws on social isolation and distancing. With the number of cases decreasing day-by-day, the state is not willing to take any chances by reinstating normalcy.

Travelers to Boston and other areas of the state are encouraged to make short-term travel plans instead of long trips. As a result, many aren’t even opting to book hotels, but are using short-term luggage storage services like Cubby, so they can store their luggage safely, conduct their business, then leave on the next flight out.

It’s not just in Boston. We offer bag storage services in ten other major cities, and storage providers in all have reported this trend among travelers. People aren’t even staying that long, and are storing their luggage for the remainder of their day, then going back home to practice self-isolation. It’s a safe practice, and we’re more than happy to facilitate it,” a representative from Cubby stated.

In addition to Boston, Cubby also offers luggage storage services in Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, Galveston, Dallas, Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Redwood City.

Conclusion

If you must travel, it’s recommended that you follow the guidance of other travelers and keep your trips short.

Sooner or later, once the numbers go down and the state opens completely, you will be able to enjoy a lengthy, comfortable trip.

But for now, keep it short, use a luggage storage service for your bags, and stay safe. It’s the best we can do!
