Lifting the Lockdown: How the Mass. Community Plans to Address Business Reopening

Did the COVID-19 crisis put your plans to travel to Boston on hold? If so, you may just get to visit the city yet! Gov. Baker has announced a 4-step plan to reopen Mass. starting from May 18 th , which may seem like a little quick, considering the information we’ve received on COVID-19 cases. Behind New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, Massachusetts leads as the state with the 4 th highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country . So, it’s natural that many people may be concerned about safety and security. Nevertheless, with this 4-step plan, the idea is not to allow all businesses to reopen, but limited industries that have little to no direct interaction with the public can still operate. Essential businesses have already been operating in the city, as in the rest of the world. But by allowing industries to resume functions, the first phase, “start,” may just help revitalize the economy and allow the government to carve a path for other industries to follow...
